Network Technician OT/IT (Sweden)

Job description

At Billerud, we believe that when we keep tomorrow in mind, we do our very best today. Our people make us a world‑leading provider of renewable paper and packaging materials. Do you want to realize your full potential and contribute to a sustainable future? Join us!

We are strengthening our global network team with a Network Technician specialized in OT/IT who will focus on Billerud’s shared network platforms across Europe. This role plays an essential part in ensuring secure, stable and future-ready OT/IT network environments that support our critical production operations.

About the role

As a Network Technician, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and developing the regional network environments used across Billerud Europe. While your base will be one of our Swedish production units, your scope will extend across multiple sites and involve close collaboration with both local IT/OT teams and the global Network organization.

The role is highly technical and hands‑on, covering network operations, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of shared network services. With increasing regulatory demands, you will also contribute to maintaining compliance with frameworks such as NIS2. Deep expertise is not required, but familiarity and understanding of the directive are important.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong OT‑related network experience who wants to work in a complex, multi‑site industrial environment.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Operate, maintain and optimize Billerud’s shared European network environments—spanning both OT and IT domains
  • Manage installation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of network solutions
  • Ensure infrastructure meets capacity, performance and reliability requirements
  • Contribute to the development of new, efficient and scalable network solutions
  • Support compliance with security frameworks and directives, including NIS2, ISO 27001 and NIST
  • Collaborate closely with IT Security to uphold high security standards across OT and IT networks
  • Work actively in both global and regional IT/OT projects
  • Document network architecture, procedures and operational standards
  • Independently plan, prioritize and execute tasks within your expertise
  • Assist with budgeting, procurement, and vendor management within the network area

Participation in an on‑call rotation may be part of the role.

The position could be based from either of our mills in Sweden; Gruvön, Skärblacka, Frövi, Gävle or Karlsborg (Kalix)

At Billerud, we put Safety First. Together we take great pride in our responsibility to contribute to a safe work environment. Please read more about our Safety First initiative here.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we believe you have:

  • A university degree in IT, networking, computer science or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working with networks in an OT environment
  • Strong technical experience with enterprise network technologies (Cisco is advantageous)
  • Experience working with ITIL processes
  • Basic understanding of IT security principles
  • Familiarity with NIS2 or similar regulatory frameworks
  • Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English

Meritorious:

  • Experience from process, industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Experience working across multiple sites or in a global organization

  • Works in a structured and organized way
  • Is proactive, analytical and solution‑oriented
  • Communicates clearly and builds strong relationships
  • Is self‑driven and comfortable taking initiative
