Sustainability & Documents
The paper making history in Pietarsaari (Jakobstad) dates back to 1883 when Wilhelm Schauman (considered the father of the Finnish plywood industry) founded a chicory mill in town. Schauman expanded his business into the lumber trade and founded several sawmills in the area. In 1962 the pulp and paper mill was built that today, after numerous modernizations, is the largest industrial facility in town. In the 1980’s the Schauman Company was merged with UPM-Kymmene and since 2012 the production facility in Pietarsaari is part of Billerud.
Billerud challenges conventional packaging for a sustainable future. Are you interested in working with us? Welcome to visit our career pages.
