Summary Description:
The CWPCo Maintenance Supervisor provides first-line leadership to the mechanical maintenance team and is responsible for the safe, efficient execution of all preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance activities across all CWPCo utility facilities. This role also leads the planning and execution of all mechanical capital projects and ensures coordination across all aspects of maintenance and operations within the business. Success in this role is driven by strong safety performance, equipment reliability, and effective team leadership.
Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
- Overall responsibility for the maintenance and reliability of five (5) hydroelectric projects and associated balance of plant systems
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to a team consisting of five (5) Millwrights and one (1) Machinist
- Oversee and execute the full preventive maintenance program, ensuring equipment reliability and continuous improvement of maintenance practices
- Lead all routine, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance activities
- Plan, schedule, and assign daily and weekly work to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of tasks
- Lead and execute all mechanical capital projects from start to finish—procurement, planning, budgeting, and implementation
- Serve as the primary coordinator of external partners including contractors, divers, and hydro service providers to ensure objectives are met
- Ensure all maintenance and capital upgrade projects are executed in full compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations
- Operate effectively within a unionized facility, directing and supporting hourly union employees while maintaining strong labor relations and adherence to contract requirements
- Ensure alignment of maintenance priorities with operational needs and business objectives
- Maintain a strong focus on safety for personnel, equipment, and project execution
- Other tasks as assigned by Director of Power & Utilities
- Provide 24/7/365 on-call support for maintenance operations
Personal qualities
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading or performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial or utility environment
Required Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Advanced mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Proven leadership ability, including experience supervising skilled trades
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs
