Accidents resulting in absence per million hours worked, LTIFR, own employees and contractors
The number of accidents per million work hours (LTIFR) for employees and contractors for BEU was 7.3 in 2022. The target for the year of less then 5 was not reached. Further efforts are needed to improve safety and our vision is zero injuries. Going forward the target for 2023 is <3.9 in total for the group.
For our North American operations the outcome was 1.1, and with the results of our European operations the combined outcome was 5.3 for the whole Group in 2022.

The climate targets set by Billerud are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and is aligned to the Paris Agreement.
Base year is 2016, outcome is measured as reduction compared to base year and target year is 2030.

The goal is for customers to consider that Billerud’s work on sustainability creates value. The 2022 target was reached as 84% in the latest customer survey consider that our sustainability work creates value.

For 2022, the outcome was 24.2% women in total. We did not reach the target of 25.5% this year.

This means that we did not manage to reach our target of 27.5%, even though we increased the share of female managers.

In 2022, the proportion of women in total for our North American operations was 16.7%. We are actively striving for better gender balance in our operations and have set a target of 20% women in total for 2023.

The target for 2022 was 1200 weeks of work experience. The outcome for our European operations was 935, which means that we did not manage to reach our target in 2022.

The target is to have 100% of our production units certified according to food safety standards, a target that has been consistently reached in 2022 and in previous years.

In 2022 the outcome was 91%. We did not manage to reach our target of 95% for our European operations.
Training in our Code of Conduct takes place regularly to build knowledge and raise awareness in the organisation about the Code of Conduct.

Our North American operations achieved an outcome of 100%. As part of the integration of Verso, the Code of Conduct was rolled out with Billerud North America in 2022.
