Sustainergies Cup

Sustainergies Cup takes place for the sixth year in a row, a competition where students from all over the world competes with innovative ideas to companies that have presented their challenges. This year BillerudKorsnäs is one of the three companies that have put up a case for students to solve.

BillerudKorsnäs case is about describing how we are shopping and consuming food in the future, and what this will mean for the role of packaging. Historically you can see how changes in our live style and consumer behavior have changed packaging and that the way we package our food can have major implications for the society. One important example is the role of packaging when it comes to reducing food waste, which is one of the great challenges the world is facing today.

We are asking students to look at megatrends, global challenges, new technology and anything else they can come up with in order to describe how food will be purchased and packaged in 50 years. How will this affect the consumer, the distributor, the recycling system and of course; the packaging?

“We want to inspire students to think outside the box which is why we have chosen this time horizon, to try to step away from what is going on “here and now””, says Henrik Essén, SVP Communication and Sustainability.

BillerudKorsnäs challenge conventional packaging and now we are asking the students to do the same.

The deadline in on January 17th 2016 and the winners will be announced in February. If you want to read more about the case, see the full case question or register have a look here.
