Logistics Planner (Quinnesec, MI)

Summary Description: The position is the main contact between the mill and carriers and requires managing the daily loading schedule for truck and rail shipments by monitoring carrier appointments to ensure paper is ready to be loaded.  Additional duties include export paperwork preparation, verifying rail billing, working with the spotter to have the correct equipment spotted.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor carrier pickup dates & ensure timely order completion
  • Manage daily (truck) loading schedule for mill and off-site warehouse
  • Manage Daily (rail) loading schedule
  • Interact with sales, planners, Load Center on truck-related issues
  • Export paperwork preparation
  • Manage loads to be brought back from off-site warehouse
  • Manage return loads for skid load back hauls
  • Verify rail billing on a daily basis
  • Interface with local warehouse on Inventory reassignment & disposition, ensuring FIFO inventory picking, expediting loads, procedural & system questions, problem resolution
  • Mill inventory transactions
  • Physical inventory participation
  • Participate in weekend coverage requirements
  • Provide backup coverage for the pulp planner

Qualifications

Required skills:

Minimum Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer & system experience

Personal qualities

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of order management functions (scheduling, inventory, shipping)
  • Knowledge and use of applicable systems/applications:  OptiVision, SAP, Excel, Cognos
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
