BillerudKorsnäs Number One in Global Sustainability Rating

For the sixth consecutive year, BillerudKorsnäs receives the highest rating level in EcoVadis, thus continuing to be in the top of the companies being evaluated. This is one of several sustainability assessments, such as Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, that confirms that BillerudKorsnäs is one of the leading companies in sustainability within the industry.

“We are proud to receive the Platinum medal by EcoVadis, which reflects BillerudKorsnäs’ commitment to sustainability. Sustainability is at the core of our business and we believe in a future where 100 percent of packaging is recyclable, renewable and fossil-free. We still have a lot of work to do, and it is crucial that we succeed to involve our suppliers and customers on this journey.”

- Malin Ljung Eiborn, EVP Sustainability, BillerudKorsnäs

The EcoVadis assessment is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of CSR into their business and management system. The methodology covers 21 criteria across four themes of environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

This year's evaluation shows that BillerudKorsnäs scores high in environmental and supply chain work. One example is BillerudKorsnäs’ ambitious commitment to reduce carbon emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. Today the company uses 97 percent bio-fuels in the production, and the long-term goals is to become fossil-free. Another important area is the sustainable procurement of wood, where BillerudKorsnäs complies with high standards.
