Billerud expands its offering for pharmaceutical packaging with PharmaKraft™
Demand for more sustainable packaging solutions is growing across the pharmaceutical industry. With PharmaKraft™, Billerud is strengthening its offering for pharmaceutical applications, making it easier for converters and brand owners to evaluate fiber-based alternatives for dry pharmaceutical packaging.
Pharmaceutical packaging must meet stringent requirements for quality, purity and process reliability. At the same time, pressure is increasing to reduce the environmental footprint of packaging and decrease reliance on fossil-based materials. PharmaKraft™ has been developed to address these needs by combining reliable converting performance, controlled purity and a renewable fiber-based raw material.

The product is intended for non-sterile dry pharmaceutical applications, including sachets, stick packs, strip packs and blister lidding solutions.
“Healthcare packaging is entering a period of transformation. With PharmaKraft™, we have created a platform that enables innovation, supports sustainability goals, and helps accelerate the shift from conventional packaging structures to paper-based alternatives made from renewable resources,” says Florian Schäffeler, Senior Segment Manager Medical at Billerud.
PharmaKraft™ complements Billerud’s healthcare packaging portfolio, which already includes SteriKraft® and MediKraft® for medical packaging applications. With PharmaKraft™, Billerud further strengthens its position in the growing market for paper-based healthcare packaging solutions.
