Job Description:

Purpose:  Weighmaster will perform the measurement and electronic entry of all Pulpwood, Chips and Biomass as they cross the weight scales.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assures that all incoming pulpwood, chip and residue trucks are properly weighed or measured
  • Properly identifies wood species and weighs in/out trucks using the LIMS system
  • Inspects loads for material not meeting specifications and makes scale deductions
  • Communicates market intelligence from truckers and out of spec loads to the appropriate Fiber Supply and Woodyard personnel
  • Directs trucks to proper unloading point
  • Coordinates and prioritizes trucks to scale based on woodyard operating activity
  • Measures all rail pulpwood cars received during his/her shift
  • Maintains effective public relations by being courteous and respectful to people delivering wood, contractors, visitors, and Billerud employees
  • Communicates accurately and effectively
  • Performs weekly species composition estimates for Softwood and
  • Hardwood loads
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned by the Sawmill Chip & Wood Fuel Coordinator or his supervisor(s)
  • Works safely / promotes safety / enforces mill safety procedures
  • Has the ability to prioritize work in a sometime stressful environment
  • Maintain clean community work area in the scale house
  • Potential for some work offsite at Quinnesec
     

 

Qualifications

Personal qualities

Required Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of truck and rail transportation systems
  • Working knowledge of wood species in the Lake States
  • Basic computer skills (email, data entry, web browser)
  • Basic Written and verbal communication skills
