This position will be part of the Quinnesec Mill's Environmental team responsible for providing routine laboratory and technical support for the mill’s operating areas and environmental programs, along with supporting identified special projects.
Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
- Perform routine and special sampling, testing, data entry and analysis of:
- point source and ambient air
- mill sewers, mill effluent, and ground water
- paper and fiber quality throughout the mill process
- raw materials, chemicals, intermediate streams, and by-products
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate sophisticated laboratory instrumentation
- Preparation of standard solutions and laboratory reagents
- Work in a multi-task, team orientated environment
Personal qualities
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum of an Associate Degree in either Pulp/Paper, Chemistry, or Water/Waste Water Treatment or other science related field.
Willing to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends and nights.
Required skills:
- Demonstrates communications/listening skills
- One or more years of laboratory or pulp/paper testing experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and team player
- Demonstrates proficiency in analytical and/or physical paper instrumentation, testing, and techniques
