Billerud's Swedish mills are accredited with the the FSC® certificate and the PEFC's chain-of-custody certificate that both guarantee traceability. These certificates help Billerud to sell eco-labelled products in relation to the volume of certified wood that it purchases.
The FSC is an international organisation that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. Products certified according to FSC standards must come from forests that are managed responsibly in terms of environmental, social and economic requirements.
The PEFC is an international system for forestry certification. The aim is to develop sustainable forestry that maintains a good balance between forest production, the environment and social interests.
