Long term efforts produce good results

The Swedish forest industry has carried out joint environmental research since the 1970s within the framework of the Swedish Forest Industries’ Water and Air Pollution Research Foundation. The forest industry has channelled significant resources into identifying the key environmental aspects of its operations. Data and information have been collected and then used to implement practical environmental protection measures.

The results of this long-term work can be appreciated today. The Swedish forest industry is a world leader in environmental protection. Since the start of the 1970s emissions to air and water have been reduced by more than 90%. The environmental situation in the waters around the mills has improved considerably and the impact on the atmosphere has also been cut significantly. As a result the Swedish forest industry is a leader in energy efficiency and environmental adaptation.
